What Happens When You Call

We start with questions, not a price. Where is the stain or drip, and does it show up in every rain or only in wind-driven rain? Did it appear after ice melted off the eaves? A stain near a chimney points to step or counter flashing, while one along an outside wall can mean an ice dam pushed water under the shingles.

Then we schedule a visit. On the roof we go over the shingle field, the flashing at walls and chimneys, the rubber boots around plumbing vents, the ridge and box vents, and the gutters. If the attic is reachable, we check the underside of the decking too, so the estimate addresses where water actually gets in rather than where it lands. Good to Have Ready Before You Call

1. What you are seeing and where, whether that is a brown ring on a bedroom ceiling, shingle pieces in the yard or water spilling over a gutter, plus roughly when it began.
2. The approximate age of your roof and any past repairs you know about, even a patch from a previous owner.
3. Photos taken from the ground if you have them, but please do not climb up to get them.
4. Whether you plan to file an insurance claim, so we can photograph the damage clearly for your records.
